In the global fight for women’s equality we took one step forward today. The ultraconservative Saudi Arabia announced that it will allow women to drive. It may seem like a small step, but it is a significant one toward women’s autonomy in that country.
It’s National Voter Registration Day. Please register if you aren’t already. If you are, check to see that you still are. Many states have purged their rolls. I know Democrats who have been removed from the rolls, regardless of the fact that they voted in the last Presidential election, but because their address was incorrect. Be proactive. Be protective. Voting is your RIGHT.
I spent some time with constituents at Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks National Monument. What our friends across the aisle seem not to appreciate is the VISTA as you approach a beautiful site. Building right to the edge of the peaks would destroy the view. And the inspiring view is worth a thousand words … and worth incalculably more than a mine.
I’m in Laguna today and tomorrow for the Feast days. Today I joined the Democrats for the parade. I thank the Kwili Yala Dance Group for the honor of having a picture with them. These young dancers are fantastic!
RIP Bob Martin, a well-known KRQE journalist and pilot. He was from Socorro, NM. His news helicopter crashed near Carrizozo. My condolences to his family and friends.
