Wait… what? How do you veto college? Suzanna Martinez line-item vetoed this year’s budget for all NM colleges! Apparently, it’s in retribution for the legislature not appointing her cronies as Regents.

Gorsuch was confirmed to the Supreme Court this morning. Republicans are rejoicing, but it is a hollow victory. In order to accomplish this, Mitch McConnell had to gut Senate rules. The process was so politicized that it mars the Court, which is supposed to be “above” partisan politics. By ramming through a hyper- right judge, who is much disliked by the Left, Republicans have proven that they are willing to create a political Court.

Also, in all of McConnell’s arguments against Democrats, he rarely, if ever, mentioned Merrick Garland, the centrist jurist who would have represented the LAW and not a segment of society.

Bernie Sanders delivers a statement on the “nuclear option” and what it means for the Left. Truly, it isn’t fair to change the rules in the middle of a game. Democrats would have supported a less extreme judge, but McConnell had to have THIS one. Shame on him.

Democratic Party of New Mexico lets Republicans have it over “Nuclear Option” for Gorsuch! He may be a ‘qualified’ judge, but he doesn’t fit with traditional Supreme Court ‘qualifications’ which means that both parties have an equal voice in a judge’s selection. Why? Because it’s a lifetime appointment.

Can we blame Rex Tillerson for the Syrian Gas Attack?

Remember a few days ago when Tillerson said that Syria’s future would be determined by the Syrian people? Words matter. Shortly thereafter the Syrian government bombed rebels with what we now know was Sarin Gas, a nerve agent that is against international law. Would that have happened if Assad hadn’t felt sure that the US would do nothing to counter him?

I repeat: Words Matter!

We MUST take back the House, and turn as many seats blue as possible in the coming elections.

Senate Republicans deployed the “nuclear option” against all better judgement. With this action, they have effectively turned themselves into a carbon copy of the dysfunctional House. The Senate is supposed to be above this sort of infighting, representing a more measured type of action. Very importantly, Republicans do NOT get to pay lip service to the morality of NOT doing an action…and then go ahead and DO it!
There is simply no correct reason to make this horrific change in the Senate’s rules. If a nominee cannot get enough votes, then the nomination is supposed to change to a more equitable nominee for both sides. We are NOT supposed to see extremists on EITHER side get shoved through based on the bad behavior of one man — in this case Mitch McConnell.
We MUST turn as many seats blue as possible in the midterm election!
