I am going to tonight’s School Board meeting in Socorro to note my opposition to a 4 day school week. The meeting is at 5:30 PM at Sarracino Middle School. If you’re in town, come and help oppose the degradation of our public education.
Thank you, Roosevelt County Women and Men’s Democratic Party for the Chile Fundraiser Event in Portales. Senator Daniel A. Ivey-Soto, keynote speaker. I was glad to see Senator Michael Padilla, State Representative George Dodge, Rick Miera, Tarin Nix, and Trish Ruiz. Laura Lorena Murillo Melendez is an inspiration to all young Democrats and Dreamers. I was glass to finally meet Shyanne Sansom and Penny Ortega! And a big shout out to Ben Salazar!
My heart aches as we contemplate yet another mass shooting on American soil. An angry man, dishonorably discharged from the Air Force, attacked innocent parishioners of First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas. We don’t yet know his motivation, but we do know there is never an excuse for killing and injuring so many, and targeting even the very young. It is an horrific, and unforgivable act. In this country, we must have a discussion about how we can move forward, and recover from these actions. We must find remedies to help halt these attacks. And, we can broaden the discussion to include mental health programs, and Veteran’s outreach. I will not mention the attacker’s name. He does not deserve recognition, even posthumously. But, I pray for the victims and their families.
(I took the attached photo this AM on the way to an event. I almost deleted it because of the “moon” anomaly – it’s not the moon. Now, I’m glad I kept it, and dedicate it to the poor souls now at rest)
“Do no harm, but take no crap” is the motto of my life & my political campaign. My sister gave me this birthday card a couple days ago, and yep, this is totally me. If you want to be part of this “take no crap” campaign, you are welcome to ride along! Message me, and let’s get together.
I spent the morning with New Mexico Indivisible leaders from across the state. The Congress was an amazing success, with a lot of discussion and learning opportunities. The upcoming elections will be won because of this savvy group of people. Congratulations T or C Indivisible!
On my way to the Indivisible Congress in T or C this morning!
Today I will be Portales with the Roosevelt County Democratic Party! If you’re in town, be sure to come to the banquet!
