Have you been to the Grand Canyon in the past 18 years? Did you spend any time in the Museum Collections Building? If so, you’ve been exposed to radiation from uranium ore. Too much radiation. Way too much. The radioactive material was stored in buckets in a location where visitors, and school children were often present – for up to thirty minutes at a time! (The radiation was high enough to deliver high doses within 2 to 3 seconds for a child)! When the existence of the ore was discovered by an employee’s son, what happened? Cover-ups, that’s what! I ran for congress on the ideal of government openness. So, when I see instances like this, it makes me angry, and it makes me want to share it far-and-wide.
