Today, I am proud to endorse Alfredo Dominguez for Roswell City Council, Ward 1. Mr. Dominguez has spent his life working to protect and advance human rights, including for gender equality. He has often condemned violence against women at work, which he believes is a core issue affecting workers’ rights, safety, health and dignity, and that all forms of violence and harassment against women and all workers are unacceptable.
Mr. Dominguez has served in the New Mexico National Guard for 6 years. He has worked over 26 years for the City of Roswell. He has held the safety and welfare of his community above that of corporate interests, having opposed the dumping of high level radioactive wastes in New Mexico, and opposed the opening of WIPP. He has lobbied to get funds for the uranium miners and for the Trinity Downwinders. He has successfully fought to keep nuclear boreholes out of our state, and stalled efforts to build an experimental sodium cooled breeder reactor in Chaves County. Mr. Dominguez has worked to reduce the numbers of animals euthanized in the City of Roswell, and helps raise funds for veterinary bills for those who cannot afford to pay them. He continues to help the homeless and those who lose their possessions in house fires.
Alfredo Dominguez has continuously shown a high level of caring and civic duty in Roswell, NM. He will be an exemplary addition to the city council.
