I am a Veteran. I am also a woman. It is not acceptable that military women are lumped in with spouses and families when discussing them. Certainly, Ms. Pence thought she was taking up a cause, but instead, she ended up trivializing these women’s roles. They are EQUAL to, not less than, the men who work beside them. This is one cause I PROMISE to take up when I am in Washington. I will always stand up for the MILITARY WOMEN, for VETERANS, and for ALL MILITARY MEMBERS … for their needs, their pay, their health, their benefits, their housing, their commissaries, their exchanges, their training…

American Women Veterans
“As the mother of a newly married male Marine, Ms. Pence has admirable intentions. However, lumping military women and military spouses and families into the same category diminishes the service of women who have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States.
These women are military professionals who deserve to have the ear of their commander-in-chief or the vice president — not be shuffled off to a high-profile spouse who is both not in their chain of command and, as a rule, does not discuss policy matters.”
